You can say "Good-bye" to me and send back everything
My broken heart has given you because you made it sing.
You can go around your room removing every trace
Until things are the way they were before I saw your face.

But everything I've shared with you will stay inside my heart,
And it won't make much difference even though we are apart.
The gifts that you have given me will stay right where they are
In places they will cause no harm but not be very far.

We agreed some time ago that this was not our time,
But keeping gifts my heart had sent you wouldn't be a crime.
I opened up that package feeling thrilled it was from you
Until I saw my gifts of love and knew that we were through.

It did not have to end this way, I never thought it would-
But things with you and I just never went the way they should.
You're very good at sending back the things that come your way,
But you don't know the love I sent or all of it would stay.
