It stands alone in authenticity
The seasons don’t affect the Christmas tree
Perhaps the reason chosen for its role
Unchangeable is living from your soul.
Forever green no matter that the cold
Makes screaming from surrounding colors bold
The grand display of pride before a fall
Which lets us see this one tree standing tall.
The only tree we take into our homes
To celebrate with singing and with poems
A love that like this tree will hold its ground
With constancy like none we’ve ever found.
A beauty that withstands the time of death,
And makes the wind of God a scented breath
Though only green it knows no cause for shame,
For true things are the ones that stay the same.
