Independence

The roles we play should not be set in stone

But they’re to keep us other than alone.

With lessons, what it means for us to share

And evidence when people truly care.

I’m sorry that you can not play along.

Or will not for some reason sing the song

Of love and magic most of us so crave

And I can’t understand how you behave.

It’s just a role to play- of needing me

And finding all the things that I can be…

Or yes- reverse- and feel me wanting you

For all that love creates for you to do.

But you won’t play- you won’t accept the role,

You think it somehow means that you’re not whole.

So you will miss what all this love is for…

You want your independence? There’s the door.
