Mobile

It took so long-
Your words hung over me,
And like an infant staring at a mobile above his crib
Before he can ever possibly understand-
I stared at them incessantly
But just could not see.
It takes time to grow up
We really don’t want to-
And seeing has such a price.

But finally- I did see what you have been saying.
You just don’t want to hurt anyone.
But the reason I couldn't see this for so long
Is my eyes were swollen shut from crying.
So all I can say now is…
It’s rather late for that.
