September

It may well seem beyond the scope
Of simple friendship through the years
To ease me onward filled with hope
Across the bridges of my fears.

And yet the smiles which melt my heart-
The memories of seeing you-
If we’re together or apart-
Sustain me, and will get me through.

Our journeys filled with fret and care-
Our hopes and dreams that fleeting seem-
But then- I find these times we share
Are better still than any dream.

We did not need to reach so far…
I close my eyes and take your hand-
Wherever you may be- you are
The reason why I understand.

All smiles I ever see are yours-
And I could wish no better fate
Than friendship- always open doors-
To life as one sweet blessed date.

I love the fall months and was drawn to your site with the title of your poem. Your appreciation of friendships mirrors my own; I see the beauty and the strength in your beautiful words, a gem for all to share with you. Wonderful post, John.

Nothing is as true and valid as the friendship in a relationship...it seems smiles travel miles to bridge that distance This is truly a beautiful work, John
