A Fine Line

There is a fine line between sanity and insanity. What happens when someone is taken in by the illusions of their own mind?

He cast himself as a watchman on the hill
and believed he could see signs from afar
The gentle hand he extended in good will
was but a serpent seeking to scar
He chased after clouds for the rain
in a sky that was guileless and blue
His dark dreams became the drain
that all of the truth slipped into
His perception clouded by lies
his in'sight became misty and dim
The carcass was infested with flies
and the future appeared to be grim

Oh tortured soul, can't you see
that you're mired in a nubilous dream
beguiled by your own imagery
where nothing is as it might seem...

If their illusions strengthen them, not a bad way to feel daily!

Trust in others seems to wash away!

LOOKS can be deceiving!

Chanti, this poem brings to light people who wear different faces and they deceive those who believe in their words. Some people put on a front that they are so pure within but they are only kidding themselves because eventually the real person must stand up and their deceptions will be revealed. A wonderful write!

Where to begin. . . .
A very 'Fine' poem.

Good grief Chanti ... internet predators and manipulators are rife and it seems, nowadays, that no one is immune to their mind-numbing, heart scarring, treachery. Brain swelling imagery in this write, and a subject that is evocative and totally relevant. Well done Poet!

Blessings ...

Excellent write Snuggles!! Great description of a twisted mind-gamer lost in a sightless delusion. Such intrusive sickos are pathetic at best Loved the line..
"The gentle hand he extended in good will was but a serpent seeking to scar"
Funny how far a psycho-predator will push his luck until a hard dose of reality and justice are served.

This certainly makes one think, Chanti. It is indeed a fine line and sometimes, it gets blurred by the pressures and unexpected events of life. Thank you. Be well,

BRILLIANT, Chanti. Intense and richly illustrated. Yet so tightly crafted and your point is delivered with force and yet within the velvet glove. Your writing, although always so intrinsically feminine, exudes such a gracious and vigourous strength. Great impact here. TY Kate xx

Great write Chanti. I'm not sure everyone is aware just how fine the line is. We are just one dream away from crossing it.

It does seem a fine line sometimes. Though they call my condition mental illness I am more sane then those who do not have such a condition. Good write. lady J

Intense and frighteningly dark, but Chanti this is beautiful in it's own way as the metaphors weep in each line.
