...

I'm handing you the dagger
Baring my chest
and asking you to plunge the blade
into my heart.
Tears still burn trails upon my cheeks
well worn from the many nights
I've cried myself to sleep.
The pain of longing so intense
I can't help hoping you will stop
Praying you can't do it
even knowing that you must,
The truth is unveiled in acts of will.
What you do will be like the switch
that puts me on a different track.
Once it is done I can never look back.
Maybe you once loved me
and maybe you never did
and maybe you just couldn't hurt me
Thank you. I do get it...
But can't you understand?
The pain is so much worse
when you don't sever the ties.
If you cannot love me
Then my love has to die

Sometimes you need to kill all hope
to set the other person free.
Sometimes in order to get up
you need to be brought to your knees!

Your verses are intense and soul-reaching, deep and expressive; and I can relate. Thank you for sharing, Chanti. Love, peace, and best wishes to you,

Regis. 🌷

Chanti, this is so painfully beautiful and beautifully painful. I so easily relate to this, since a dear friend cut me out of her life 2 years before she left this realm. But then, about a year before her departure, she vehemently reconciled and apologized for what she had done. In that reconciliation, we grew as close or closer than we ever had been. I wish you the same blessings.
