Look Into My Heart
By John Herlihy

If you could look into my heart,
What is there that you would see?
Thousands of suns rising and setting,
Countless moons with no forgetting.
Stars that twinkle our deepest hopes,
Desires that have us climb steep ropes.
Hills and valleys that put us to the test,
Waves of emotion that peak, then crest.
Knotted cords tied with hurt and regret,
Smoldering desires I could never forget.
A plate of glass shattered and broken,
A blade of grass standing tall, my token.
Without you, I will always be incomplete,
United together, we will our destiny meet.

I have no words to say what your poem makes me feel. I can see the blade of grass standing tall and the broken plate. Such imagery.

You need to post for your lover on Valentine's Day.

Sentimentality aside, when I look into a heart, I see gaps called ventricles, tubes and muscle. But if I could truly look into your brain, I would see all of these things and more.

But I do appreciate the fine sentimentality that you display in this poem.

I'd say you have a big heart, with all that's inside it. Kudos.

This is not my question and it is not related to my poem. It may be your question, if you want to write a poem about it.

So what is the verdict, in the end, my friend? Will we live life eternally with Jesus Christ? That is the question in the end...
