-- The Most Beautiful Promise --

John Herlihy

The most beautiful promise,

The promise that need not be made.

The ever-eternal promise,

That needs no voice to be conveyed.

Some promises are given voice,

Simply to fade as an echo soon to vanish.

Some promises have us rejoice,

But soon broken, their meaning to tarnish.

Some promises capture a beauty,

A nugget of hope and trust, a mutual bond.

That loses the glow of its mystery,

To be empty promises with no need to respond.

The most beautiful promise never spoken,

Living knowledge, never shattered, never broken.

I ADORE THIS SHARING, BUT SINCE KNOWLEDGE IS LEARNED ON EARTH AND WISDOM IS INSTILLED FROM ABOVE...I WOULD CONSIDER 'WISDOM' TO BE THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PROMISE, YES? REMEMBER FOLLOWING HIS SINCERE PRAYER, GOD PROMISED SOLOMON TO ENDOW HIM WITH IT...AND HE KEPT HIS PROMISE. THANKS FOR THE SHARING, MY FRIEND. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS

You have sited our species for what is its primary mission: to experience, to learn, to acquire knowledge, thus a chance to become wise. Perhaps it can be said that Mother Nature is the promise-granter personified.

the promises that matter

A promise can be either a gift or a curse, depending upon its nature and the one doing the promising. Then there are promises meant to be kept, promises that should have been kept, and promises that were better not kept. A promise can be many things to many people. Personally, I take them each with a grain of salt.

So thankful for that promise. Lovely pen, John.
