-- Our Multiple Selves --
John Herlihy
We live multiple lives,
We have multiple selves.
The child with wisdom old,
Born with an innocence bold.
The old man again a child,
Still winsome and still wild.
The teenager makes mistakes,
The mature do whatever it takes.
In mid-life we feel elderly,
In old age we feel tenderly.
The child wants to be a man,
The old man again a child.
In never being exactly who we are,
We become exactly who we are.

As we rise in our profession, we are often asked to take on roles we dislike or do not possess enough skills to do well.
