-- PATIENCE –

John Herlihy

Waiting with the wait,

Standing before the gate.

No arrival all this time,

Satisfaction will not be mine.

Waiting without the wait,

Entering without the gate.

Arrival comes in due time,

Satisfaction will be mine.

A pause as winds blow,

Soon to come to know.

Worth the wait or not,

Like unravelling a knot.

Waiting fills the long hour,

Patience brings rare power.

A flower awaits bud’s bloom,

Perfume fills an empty room.

Waiting for happiness, for hope,

While clinging to the divine rope.

Waiting for the arrival of anyone,

Waiting for that special someone.

Silence fills the void,

A sense of calm enjoyed.

The mind emptied, stilled,

Waiting patiently to be filled.

For someone never to come,

The heart settled, not on the run.

Waiting longer, a little while,

No need the mind to rile.

If she comes, you know,

Her light in your heart to sew.

If she comes not, you know,

Her darkness in your heart to sew.

Soon the waiting will be at an end,

No longer any need to pretend.

Still, patient waiting can be kind,

To quiet the often frantic mind.

The waiting finally left behind,

With its blessing most refined.

Waiting an impulse considered dutiful,

Whatever happens, patience beautiful.

PATIENCE IS A VIRTUE WHICH MUST BE LEARNED...BUT WHICH IS WORTH EVERY BIT OF THE WISDOM GAINED WHILE WAITING FOR ITS FRUITION! SO, I AGREE, THOUGH NOT FROM A PERSONAL STANDPOINT BECAUSE I AM STILL SHAMEFULLY...REACHING. HOWEVER, HAVING SPIED THE FINISHED PRODUCT IN OTHERS, I CAN ATTEST, YES, PATIENCE...IS BEATIFUL! WHAT A FINE WORK, THANK YOU, JOHN. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS

For some of us, it requires infinite patience before we find someone willing to be with us from the life we live, in our case not conducive to being a homebody and settling down like the Joneses. But patience pays off, like both you and I know. In the meantime we have to just love ourselves for who we are and what we offer and they will come. No, not the ones who want to take pity and express that needful tone, but the ones who come with love and understanding.

A wonderful lesson written beautifully. Enjoyed.

A treatise on so many considerations with patience. As the text and subtext extoll, patience delivers what is needed, often a stealthy desire we find arresting in its appearance.

Lovely, John.
