-- The Silent Palm Tree -- by John Herlihy The silent palm tree never speaks, Even if a subtle message it conveys. With uplifted limbs it forever seeks, To fill its humble heart with praise. When misted over with gentle rain, Or shrouded in the darkness of night. A palm tree feels no delight and pain, Only the beatitude of luminous light. Desiring nothing the tree only gives, Ever watchful, ever waiting, to reply. Meanwhile, it breathes, grows, lives, Never asking life the reasons why. Standing so stately without any care, Whispering thru wind its quiet prayer. - - - - - Copyright © John Herlihy Monday 10 February 2025

You've penned an ode of sorts to much of nature besides the palm. Yes, the palm may have a different set of survival tools, but like so much of Nature, survival is their gift to us. I often dwell on the locations I've lived and the impact Nature had on me. Thank you for this humble praise of one of the most survivable parts of our environment.

A lasting symbol of resilience. Having the ability to bend with the wind in the face of adversity. Guardians providing shelter for those seeking solace.
