Searching for a Poem

by John Herlihy

Searching for a poem,

Finding a swallow in flight.

Soaring through the air,

Wind passing thru feathers.

Rising on uplifted wings,

Against an infinite blue.

The bird speaks of freedom,

Of a heart fully revealed.

Thus, the poem soars in flight,

Deep into the halcyon night

The poem belongs to no one,

But can be felt by everyone.

As a bird set free into the air,

Without worry, without a care.

The poem no longer caged,

The feelings no longer staged.

The poem obliged to no one,

A precious gift to everyone.

Now beyond reach of the poet,

Waiting patiently to be found.

I TOTALLY AGREE, JOHN. THUS, I'VE LEARNED NOT TO ...SEARCH. FOR THERE ARE TIMES WHEN ALPHAS PASS THROUGH OUR ARTISTIC SOULS SO FLEETINGLY THAT WE FAIL TO 'CATCH IT'. WE'VE FELT IT FOR A MOMENT BUT IT MOVES ON. I'M CONVINCED THAT IT WAS NEVER A MISTAKE...AS WHAT OUR MUSE INTENDS FOR US TO RECEIVE WE WILL. SOMETIMES THE WORDS WILL RETURN, THEN WE KNOW THEY ARE, INDEED, MEANT FOR US AND WE GRAB IT. OTHER TIMES THE WORDS SIMPLY 'SOAR ON' FOR ANOTHER POET, SOMEWHERE...TO RECEIVE. OUR MUSE...HE IS A MARVELOUS GOD...ISN'T HE? THANKS FOR THE SHARE, MY FRIEND. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS

I usually don't have to search very long to find a poem once a week. But an image like that swallow in fight is certainly all that's necessary to write a poem that flies in the face of everything else.

The Hanging Man Dreams by Aberjhani

David Hightower’s lyrically expansive meditation on the whims of fate and the unpredictability of the human condition fill the pages of THE HANGING MAN DREAMS with thrilling music and mesmerizing imagery. Hightower’s richly infused voice echoes the e

Robin Ouzman Hislop's poetry is certainly in dialogue with some of the key architects of the 'poetics of indeterminacy' – both the Modernist strands represented by the likes of Beckett and Stein, and the postmodernist strands represented, initially,
