I cloned a clown,

A clown I cloned.

I made him just like me.

And when my clone

Became full grown,

We clowned around with glee.

The clown I cloned

Will be alone

When someday I shall die.

Unless he clones another clown

That looks the same as I.

His thoughts would be

The same as mine.

We’d never disagree.

He’d be my friend

Right to the end

And, when I ceased to be,

My clown could clone another clown

To think and talk like me.

I cloned a clown,

I made him to be free

Of all plagues and diseases

That befuddles you and me.

And, when my clone was perfect,

For everyone to see,

My heart began to sorrow.

He no longer looked like me.

I cloned some clowns,

And taught my clowns

To clone more clowns like me.

So we could live forever,

Just my clever clones and me.
