My Senior Lament

This is a new expanded version of a previously posted very short poem. This is the final form. Thanks for reading this version if you have already read the old one. If you didn't read the older version, well thanks for taking your time to read this one.

Senior’s Lament

If pills were square and not round,

There would be less of them on the ground.

And I wouldn’t be down on the floor

Looking to find three or four.

When you’re old and feeble, like me,

On all fours is a place not to be.

Getting down is a hard thing, it’s true ;

Getting up’s even harder to do.

Had I only placed them in a cup,

Now, I wouldn’t be picking them up;

Trying to bend down on one knee,

Experiencing sheer agony.

There’s a lesson to learn from this fable

When your pills start to roll off the table.

If it’s hard, once you’re down, to get up,

Keep your pills where they’re safe, in a cup.

Oh, boy, how I can relate to some of this, especially the pills and the knee pain! OW~! And getting up; oh, boy, do I ever have a problem with it, especially if I am on a low bench or chair; then I usually need help if I don't have my crutch with me...LOL

ADORable write, Londis; enjoyed!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :D

ONE small problem though: I am NOT a senior yet; I am only a middle ager; this year I will be 45! (In June~) And I am ALREADY having these problems. NOT good!...LOL

Aha! Lonny.. considering your cleverness with words and rhymes and rhythms, perhaps it is YOU who should take a stab at inventing this square pill you long for.. LOL> Come to think of it, with this delightful piece, I'd say YOU are the PILL! hehe... I 'felt' your pain... sigh. katy xox.
