Sittin here drinkin

An oldie but goodie I thought I'd put our here!

I'm sittin here drinkin
they say it will help me to forget
been drinkin all day
and I haven't  forgotten yet


I woke early this mornin
to the ringin of the phone
my baby called to tell me
he was never comin back home


So I'm sittin here drinkin
they say it will help me to forget
been drinkin all day
and I haven't forgotten yet


I saw baby this evenin
and asked if he was comin back
he said he was havin too much fun
to do a crazy thing like that!


That's why I'm sittin here drinkin
they tell me it will help me to forget
well, I been drinkin all day
and I haven't forgotten yet!


"Bartender!  pour me another drink!"

I love this poem. It reads with the same rhythm of a great Blues song. I love the repetition of the first, third and last stanzas.Once again, beautiful imagery. "Bartender! Pour me another drink!", was a wonderful way to end this poem.

This is one hell of a romp! My toes were tappin', head boppin'... i finally just went back for more and read it out loud. It's got a great beat and some dandy infectious rhyme.

Here, let me pour for you! (grin) As a humorist, myself, I'm always happy to show support for that category... very glad I did, with this. Good stuff! katy xox
