Oh I Wish

Sunday mornining a chance to catch that extra forty winks,
So much for your thoughts mate, that`s what you may think,
Next door`s lawnmower starts with a clatter and a bang,
Just beneath your window two cars have had a prang.

Your head is neath the pillow, to try and quell the noise,
You dare`nt leave the bedside, in case you lose your poise,
Noise is all around you, hammering in your ears,
A chance to rest ?, not likely, when your wife appears.


"The lawn needs mowing badly, the dog needs washing too,
You promised you would do it, so now it`s up to you,"
I crawl out from the blankets, I know when to give it best
I`ll join the rowdy neighbours, goodbye to Sunday rest.
