The Spider In the Corner

This is a true story, I was about 6 at the time and had been taken on a holiday to recover from an eye operation.
A Loo drop loo is essentialy a very deep hole in the ground with a bench seat over it.
OK Cherie does this meet your challenge??

The Spider In The Corner,

When just a lad of tender years,
I went to the bush on holiday
An operation I'd just had,
This was to recuperate

A real bush hut was our abode
The township a mile or so down the road
An outside loo was provided too,
An old long drop which was far from new.

No electic light was known then,
This was in the bush, a way back when
A lantern was our only light,
Or else a candle burning bright,

Night time came with the urge to go,
Burning within me was the urge of flow
So the lantern I took down to the site,
All around me I heard noises of the night.

I took my seat on that wooden bench,
The lantern beside me on a handy ledge,
Sitting quietly waiting for something to occur,
I noticed in a corner a small ball of fur,

Being a lad with a curious bent
To find out what it was , was my intent
With a finger outstretched I gave it a poke,
What happened next was surely no joke,

It jumped in the air and I gave a scream,
It was the biggest Huntsman I'd ever seen.
I screamed and screamed, Mum rushed to the door,
She couldn't get in, I'd locked it before,

The neigbour rushed over shot gun on the hip,
Ready to blast, if he could see what was causing my fit,
I was still screaming while mother pounded the door,
I opened the door while my tears still poured

Funny you know I forgot about going,
It took quite some time for my tears to stop flowiing,
That spider skedaddled way out of sight,
Ever since then I've hated spiders at night.

Oh Dear LOLOL, I can just picture this.. You know those hairy aracnids are the cause of so much injury its not funny! I bet SGIC alone have many records of accidents because of the huntsman. I personally loathe all spiders, but will get the tip of the hearth shovel and toss it outside. Thank you for a darn good laugh John,I know the problem too with locking the thunderbox door from the inside, and the lamp or torch. Up on Grandads old farm they had an outside dunny, or throne room LOL. My father always called them or similar erections the turkey perch.

Yep, this is going into my library. Blasted Huntsman's fair go.BTW did the damn burst later that night :):)

Love Ch'erie
