They Ate The D-con

A funny couplet poem about critters.

Bats enter the attic, now there's a hangout;

soon a whole family, it's a real knockout.

Bats got hungry, bats ate the D-con;

they drove me crazy, now they're all gone.

Squirrels enter the attic, now there's a hangout;

soon a whole family, time for a turnabout.

Squirrels got hungry, squirrels ate the D-con;

they all came out and died, I'll be doggone.

Roof-rats enter the attic, now there's a hangout;

soon a whole family, who wouldn't freak out?

Rats got hungry, rats ate the D-con;

serves 'em right, they'll turn into interferon.

They all ate the D-con, entered the wrong house;

never knew what hit 'em, way beyond comatose.

Seven days later, what's this I hear;

scratching and gnawing again, this is really queer.

I know what happened, temperature got warmer;

relatives found out, there was an informer.

But winter will set in making it very cold up there;

they'll all get hungry, D-con will not spare.
