When I moved in I had no idea;
this house will never be a panacea.
Of course it's not the owner's fault;
I chose to live here, doing a somersault.
Came here for a reason;
roof over my head, any season.
I'll just have to grin and bear it;
don't want to become a misfit.
Can't use the kitchen sink;
so many things on the blink.
Even the back door doesn't work right;
wintertime will prove the place isn't airtight.
The bathroom water smells like rotten eggs;
perhaps I'll consider moving to Winnipeg.
The windows surely have seen their days;
but what's the use, I shall not inveigh.
The electrical receptacles are loose;
can't run two appliances, too much juice.
But what the heck, the house has a new roof;
things could be worse, no need to remain aloof.
When I moved in I had no idea;
at first it felt like I was on Euboea.
But after all it's a great place to meditate;
learn life's secrets, the soul to incorporate.
