My Importance is Paramount - What am I?
It’s the first thing I see
angling through the blinds in morning’s dawn
casting rays of brilliance on her hair like a halo
glowing in the eyes of newlyweds as bright as their love
emanating like the glow of a mother with her first born
radiating from the faces of children as they play
glittering in beach sand like fairy’s eyes
glinting a rainbow through Mama’s crystal vase like magic
laying like a lake on Grandma’s polished dining room table
encapsulating a dew drop like a jewel
lining the edge of a leaf like a diamond bracelet
streaming through a window like a sword
shimmering like sapphires on the sea
twinkling in the sky like a million midnight smiles
catching on the wings of dragonflies as they flutter in its beam
tracing a spider web like a DeVinci sketch
glowing like an opal in the night sky
sparking on a Christmas trees like stars
wrapping around a sergeant’s polished shoes like a mirror
gleaming off the china as bright as spotlights
darting from a flashlight faster than a race horse
flashing from a mirror like a secret signal
leaping in the fireplace like a gyrating dancer
streaking across the sky during a storm like branches clawing the sky
glazing the streets like a rainbow in an evening shower
glistening on icicles like Christmas ornaments
emanating from a candle like the romance it fosters
flashing atop an ambulance in crisis
hovering on horizon’s edge like orange marmalade
beaming from the sun onto the moon like a veil
rimming the eyes of one who has lost their mate
glinting, lustering, beaming, brightening
burnishing the world
i am light
I would only add one thing… Sunlight.
