An ex-teachers family sent me this, I think I was about 12 when I wrote it, it is so cool for me to read it now, I hope you enjoy it...

Sent to me by an ex-teacher’s family, found when going thru that teachers belongings,

I would assume that teacher is passed, as I think I wrote this when I was about 12,

a very bad time for me that year, but what kid really likes where they grow up?

It had no title, my adding it herein, and of course I cleaned it up just a bit, punctuation etc… *ED*

“A Write from my Childhood”

Living at the shore, oh what a bore,

All I see, is the ocean and the beach,

People coming and going I don’t know where,

Wish I were going with them, where I don’t care,

I can’t forget about the gulls, they are my only friends,

And boy can they soar, wish I had wings, I could fly away with them, so unfair.

Living at the beach,

Everyone thinks I should be so happy,

Having the ocean and shore within my reach,

The hell with them, they have no idea,

What it is like to live here, I wish I were a leech,

I could attach myself to someone & leave,

I tell you, once I do, I will NEVER come back,

No matter how much mom and dad grieve.

Is it just me or do you all feel,

Living in this supposed paradise is so unreal,

Killing time playing with myself, so good that feels,

Can’t wait to get out to see the world,

Maybe tonight I should just steal,

Our boat, and go for a long distance float.

I've read many of your childhood writes, Ed--your talent has aged very well. It had good roots! One always wonders about where they grow up until they do grow up. Glad you are still writing . . . b

I am seeing that your love of writing is not something new. It looks like your feelings about the ocean have changed over the years. Thanks for sharing this one, Ed.

Eddie... you hid this behind the other posting.. and it's filled with the angst of the age... obviously, you grew to love the beach and the sea... I'd say you sound pretty normal for that age, except you may be the only kid who ever wanted to be a "leech".. ICK! (smile). Thanks for sharing this... it's fun to look back, isn't it? Never, ever lose the voice of your 'inner child' Ed... it keeps the dreams alive. Be well... katy xox.
