Immortal…

Archaic am I,

Older than dirt,

Past tense,

At deaths door,

Falling apart at the seams, or so it seems…

Reincarnation, never an option,

As I will never leave this planet,

Even if I am not in as good as shape I was,

I still won’t die, hey, would I lie?

I have been here since the beginning of time,

Since the gods have put man on top of woman,

But there are other ways of doing that too,

Before children did arrive to strive,

Those of us that are everlasting,

Have seen all there is to see, done all there is to do,

As well as doing it to all there was to do it to…

Kings we have been & oh yes queens,

Dictators as well as prominent leaders, we did accomplish much,

The world at this time seems to be heading to the brink,

It has been there before and will do so again, time in a blink…

Peace the world has NEVER known,

War, pestilence, greed, avarice, lack of faith,

We have seen all these things and more, from you we call human,

From Truman to Neuman, from Einstein to Freud, to all you try to avoid,

We have watched, recorded, and otherwise sat annoyed…

You have dirtied this world, beyond recognition, beyond hope of return,

Mother Nature in her strength cannot alone return to it, health,

With all your hoarded wealth,

You cannot help as one, need you do, to help altogether,

Bring your world back to the way it was in the before time,

Before man blackened its door, killing its animals, destroying it and more…

Can the world’s population accomplish this, can they make the shot & not miss?

Those of us immortal have our doubts, even as we have been here before,

We hope, we pray, we desire to see you strive, before you fall into the abyss…

Wow! This is profound, Ed. Avarice--now there's a nice poetic word. One I didn't know, I might add.

Thanks, Scott
