Thank you Floria for reminding how much fun a grand mother can be...

Grand mom always made this for me,

When visiting her, my dad and I went to see,

Cooking on her stove, could be smelled as you walked in the door,

She let me lick out the bowl and the pot, after it cooled, not so hot…

Always did I have this pudding on my mind,

Each and every time I went to visit with my grand mom that I loved,

Dad would say that she was spoiling me,

She would just tell him to leave it be,

She was definitely the boss in her house; she had the key…

I remember how she made bath time so special,

Undressed I was, she doused me in pudding fixings,

So I could eat some of it off my arms,

While she washed the rest of me, did not notice the cleaning I got,

Worked well for me and all my cousins too,

Of course our parents would therein scoff,

But the kids we thought it was really boff!

She knew how to take care of the kids,

Her husband, my grand father, I hardly recall,

He was more like my dad, very gruff,

But grand mom was always there, stopping spankings, loving us all so rare,

Or so we thought at the time, mom and dad treated us badly,

She treated us like we were kings & queens, she was the best, hardly did I ever scream…

What lovely contact you've made with that 'inner child', Ed. I loved the part about her being 'the boss in her home'... Good job, Granny! She so obviously was a huge bright spot in your childhood.. thanks for sharing these dear memories. katy xox.

Mmmmm....you made me want to go mix up a batch...it's been
awhile. I like the home-made the best of all, too, not that
mush from those little store containers.
Maybe I'm spoiled, also.

Hahaha, Nice poem Ed. Oh my mom used to do wonderful things to tapioca pudding, like adding bits of crushed pineapple and such, and yes, my brother and I got to lick the bowls, too. Three cheers for grannys!
