Just remembering...


Poem Artwork

To the Moon, Alice…


 


Memories of past laughs,


Remembering last pasts,


Fun we had when TV was fun,


No cable, no satellite,


One set in the living room,


The neighbors all the same,


No one was outdone…


 


No computers,


Only the phone for familial communications,


No cell phones nor towers blocking the view,


We drove to our families’ homes to see our relations,


Life seemed then to have a lot less complications…


 


Comedy was clean,


Humor without, what some call, disgusting language,


Sure I find it funny, and I laugh as well,


But it gets to be boring listening to others thoughts so obscene…


 


I am no angel; I have done it as well,


Poetry written of orgasmic sex and farts that smell,


Can’t imagine that would in anyway sell,


Better it is for us all to write of Nature, from the beach a shell…


 


So when you recall the good old days of happy life,


Times when we could do no wrong,


Before we did experience strife,


Remember those times with smiles and song,


Those were the days when humor had a sense of right and wrong…

Thanks for the memory, Ed. Wait, that's Hope. I loved The Honeymooners. And it tore me up when we lost Johnny Carson in January. Tough year for comedy.

The memories you bring back...my Daddy loved that show. :) I always felt bad, though, for Alice...today's wimmin wouldn't put up with that, they'd send HIM to the moon! :)

Oh yeah, excellent memories from a time where family came first... heck you could discuss your day waiting for the TV to "warm" up...

Ahhhhhhh... Eddie M, you write whatever is in your heart and your mind... it's all YOU and that makes it all fine.

Who knows why, but as I read, Red Skelton popped into my head... his last words every show: 'and may God bless'... the slightly shy, boyish smile he wore when he said it. Thanks for the memories, Mr. "Hope" (grin) This was a huge pleasure to read, dear friend. katy xox

I always wondered what happened to Alice Kramden - and now I know! And The Honeymooners TV show was always a highlight of the week for my family in "those days when humor had a sense of right and wrong…"

I always roared watching Ralphie Boy and his whacky sewer rat pal, Ed Norton, always trying to outmaneuver their wives.
