Nothing Special for Dad…

No special stories for or of my Dad,

To speak of him, now gone, makes me sad,

Wishing we were better friends since a lad,

Instead as it seemed we were always at each other mad…

Passed in eighty-nine,

Those last seven years we made out fine,

Closer we got though fights did still cross the line,

I got to pity him now, as my mom may be with him, she really was a swine…

So on this Dads day I bid him my love,

Though in life neither of us fit like a glove,

If he is spending eternity below or above,

I wish him well and have him know I of him think the world of…

Its those disagreements that in time bring some parents and children into a close bond in the last many years together. My father and I are like fire and ice. However in the past few years we have melted together :-) Wonderful write.

This was truely from the heart. It was sweet.
I bet he'd smile, and say, "Good job son." :)
