Poem Artwork

D-lysergic acid diethylamide

"I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by madness, starving hysterical naked, dragging themselves through the negro streets at dawn looking for an angry fix, angelheaded hipsters burning for the ancient heavenly connection to the starry dynamo in the machinery of night, who poverty and tatters and hollow-eyed and high sat up smoking in the supernatural darkness of cold-water flats floating across the tops of cities contemplating jazz. "
Allen Ginsberg

*LSD*

Not for breakfast anymore,

Nor lunch or dinner,

Tripped to school,

Home to the big blue pool,

What did I learn,

The sun did my eyes burn..

Gym class was an experience,

Sat in the bleachers, being yelled at by the coach,

Never heard a word, he spoke with the head of a roach,

Cube and blotter it did come by,

At Woodstock the white rabbit was fine,

The yellow banana was definitely not wine,

My eyes did in the sun feel poached..

Hoffman and Leary did comment,

Dropped lids with total consent,

Expanded were the senses,

Emotion, memory and awareness affected,

Synasthesia common,

Hearing colors, seeing sounds, tasting tactile sensations,

All this and more was the acid trip,

Made one feel during most quite hip..

It's a wonder that the experience can translate into words.

If you want to escape to Mars with Captain Peter Paton and our valiant crew and critters, you will have to submit to a complete body search first - we can't be having any LSD up there - on our brand new world.

I do believe you've summed it all up quite nicely here, Ed, only the jazz remains... Well penned.

It was a wild ride through the park for sure! Like you I saw many good minds leave earth and never return. Sure gave new meaning to the party though.
Jus' don't give poor Rufuz any Ed...he'll be chasin' the cat over the moon..

I bet you were listening to "Smoke on the Water" when you wrote this! Just don't look up the movie "A Clockwork Orange" or you might not recognize poor Rufuz anymore. Wow you have a way with, not just words, but taking us places some of us have never been.

Stay inventive Dear Ed, blessin's

Yep it was indeed a "trip" and I will never regret having used it. It really did open my mind to spiritual things that would have taken me many years to finally realize if I ever did at all. I must admit that the first time I watched the walls breathe and the pavement melt that I was a bit caught off guard, but laughhhhhhhhhhhhhh!! I surely did.
Take care,
Sherry

Yup, been there, done that. Can't say I didn't like it, because I did. Would I recommend it? Nope.
