When I was about 17, my friend Lonnie's Grandfayher told us:

GOD IS LOVE - the best "Christian' I ever knew was a next door neighbor named Richard Anderson - and he never went to church! When we were all piling into the car, to rush to mass - and his wife and kids also - he was outside toiling in the soil, and communing with nature - and he was always humble, always helping others, and never pretentious in any way!

" THY ACTIONS ALONE DETERMINE THY WORTH!"

To me, religion has nothing to do with God. Religion happens when a man, or a group of men, establish themselves to administrate the things of God - and humans are in NO way qualified to be in that position of power. God has never needed humans to speak for Him. God has no need to speak in any human language. Religions claim the special power of being the "mouth-pieces" of God - an unnecessary collection-plate middleman. Thus, all religions, by their very ignorance and greed, are false and should be avoided. God is in your heart and God is One with your Spirit.

Each religion claims to be the only perfect voice of morality and ethics - at the same time that they abuse little children and wage wars against each other. And thus is their historical falsehood plainly revealed.

If all human religions were abolished today, more people would lose their confusion long enough to know God.

And that would be a good thing :-)

The basis of ethics and government, well developed by the Greeks over 2000 years ago (Read The Republic) formed a firm foundation of living without the need for outrageously ridiculous moralistics of religion.

You are right, Ed. We have problems to solve and don't need religious wars impeding us.

will never behave the way it should. There is
no reason why all faiths cannot live in harmony
it's human inability to allow others to make
their own choices. Those who think only their
way is right. We should have grown up by now!

Sadly, more wars have been fought over religions than any other reason, history proves this; it's the misinterpritation that have people finding the need to mouth off about. It's from within the heart that love comes, not the holier-than-thou buildings we build. Yet, I could not exist without my faith. Thoughtful words, Ed.

NO, Ed, giving up on "religion" isn't the answer. Giving up on mankind's INTERPRETATIONS of it, to satisfy their own beliefs/agenda/greed is the answer. So: what IS religion? This just stirs up more questions...thought provoking excellence!
