Driving under the Parkway overpass, I have to blow my horn, its something we just did, Smelling the marsh grass & mud at low tide, Reminds me of coming home after, with dad & mom, a ride… Seeing that long stretch of bay front homes, Extending the length of the island, Water tower welcoming to the left, Boat docks to the right, A feeling over me that’s tight… From on top of the bridge, I can see my mom ocean, Angry she is today, whitecaps like teeth, Down 41^st to Pleasure & a right, Three short blocks and a left, Home always looked welcoming, The dark clouds above, my refuge beneath… © ed ~ 11/04/08

It is funny how comforting home is even when it is no longer our legal address it remains in our hearts our sanctuary.

There's nothing like that feeling. I remember driving into the SF Bay area in the glow of the setting sun over Alcatraz three years after leaving California for good three years before. I only lived there three years, but it till seems like home.. Except when I Escape to Wisconsin, again.

ED - WELL DONE, LAD - WELL DONE!

Ocean City Maryland was never my home, but your description of the approach matches very well. I was about 17 when I first experienced the Ocean - such Power, such Magnificence, such Lovely HOOTERS in BIKINIS .... MY GAWD! I was in HEAVEN!
