Memories of memories un-remembered…

I guess I was about ten here...


Poem Artwork

 

 

Bits & pieces in a dream,

Pictures of past places,

Childhood remembrances lost,

Ghosts inhabit thoughts…

 

Retention shortened,

Recollections abbreviated

Anamnesis expurgated,

Only resurface in dreams…

 

Brain cauterized,

Left with empty spaces,

Burned out from drugs,

I wish of my childhood I could remember…

Some childhood memories are good to recollect, others...better let them lying down covered with the dust blanket of never again.

Sad that drugs all too often do erase memories that we can never regain. Like wisps of smoke they just float about in front of our eyes as we grope to remember.

Aw, Ed! Some people wish they didn't remember their childhoods! This piece resonates as you use few words for each line. Brings out the emotions more. It's called IMPACT, and you write it! Thank you for sharing...
