Doth almost arrive to two years,
This stout-hearted woman knew little fears,
Strength of family did she in her brood instill,
Hearty are her children, into adulthood,
Of her desires they grew strong, they did of her fulfill…
I was but a nephew from her husbands side,
She always treated me with the same as her own,
I remember her asking me once was I crazy,
After some altercation with another son,
Little did she know, though I think she may have,
That yes I was quite crazy, but more so later in life lazy…
Her children & I do very little talk,
Its alright for in life we all have to walk our own walk,
Someday though I hope again to of them see,
The older I get the more I miss to have even a small amount of family…

Dear Ed, Thank you very much for reading and reviewing my last poem, your kind words are much appreciated. You wrote a lovely reflective piece about your Aunt Dolores. Family is the basic foundation of all societies, and Aunts – bless them all – are the cornerstones that give strength. I know it too well, If it wasn’t for my two much beloved aunts, I probably would not be here today. You obviously have fond memories of your aunt and a longing for family… Ed, my friend, go and visit them, before time runs out. Life is too short and whatever keeps you apart cannot be as strong as the strength of blood that binds you together. Do yourself a favour, you will thank yourself for it… Best wishes and very warm regards to all three of you, Peter.

Family is one gets, because if one could choose...the likes of a aunt Dolores would have been more preferably.
