My neighbors dog is the nicest guy I've known since I had to lose Rufuz...e

Poem Artwork

He’s an old white dog,

Nothing fancy & a bit old,

But to his humans he is love personified,

To me, his neighbor, he is the greatest guy,

From him a kiss I get, better than gold…

Since Rufuz having to leave,

This guy has been a good friend,

Whenever I do of Rufuz grieve,

Just a short time with him do I spend…

Yes, Smoky is his name,

It may be kinda different,

As he is all white, but that’s his fame,

Blind in one eye, can’t see out the other,

And he has selective hearing, per his dad,

But me he does still know, probably by my scent…

I miss having a doggie.
I can't imagine ever having the time or money necessary to get another dog. Wish love was enough, but it doesn't pay vet bills.
:(
So- a neighbor's dog can be a man's best friend indeed.

Smoky sounds like a marvelous friend and neighbor, indeed. I think I know most of the dogs in my neighborhood, and they're all good friends and good neighbors - much nicer than several of my human neighbors! And I still think you need to find a Smoky of your own, to take those needed long walks with you.

PS: See how nice I am; I'm skippin the Scent Jokes!!

I'm guessing your brothers will soon have something to say about your scent, and dogs think that's just fine. :-) Patrick

I'm sorry you had to lose Rufuz, Ed. Doesn't it feel as though Smoky understands? Dogs are great comforters--I'm glad you have him for a friend.
Connie
