Poem Artwork

He came from the pound,

A cry his only sound,

Did not matter where he was found,

He was a great buddy to me all around…

Can’t get him back,

He’s gone & that’s that,

Hopefully living a happy life,

He never, till the end, gave me any strife…

I feel so sorry for him,

He didn’t understand why,

I had to give him up,

I did through out it all cry,

I wish I still had my baby,

Another like him does not exist,

Looking though I do with constant persist…

No two are alike and all are wonderful. I'd suggest a twenty pound mutt. It won't hog the bed or eat you out of house and home. Or complain about your gaseous emissions. Patrick

It looks like you still have fond memories of Rufus. From the pictures I could see that he had a great personality and loved you very much.

A.D.'s not the same without good old Rufuz. And there are sadly so many homeless dogs out there right now - I just found another one living in the woods.

I'm so sorry Ed, I do not know what I would do without my Abby praying for you!!

I can feel your loss Ed but there are plenty of dogs who would love to share your life style and love of oceans and beaches...if you go to animal shelter he will pick you if you are ready.

This is not a condemnation. But we love many animals in our lives. Unfortunately we outlive them unless they are alligators or the like.
There is another puppy just waiting to snag your heart, Big boy.

Say a prayer. Never know. Know you miss him ... if you can't find Rufuz, perhaps another pet will want you to be his Daddy. I'll add my prayers to yours. Well penned, my friend.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

Ed, I'm going to ask the Lord to lead you to the right dog for you now. Maybe it will be a smaller dog, now that you are.....well, you know, another year older......
It really seems to be time for you to take the "pet plunge" again.
After we got "Sugarplum" it seemed to be a mistake--she was kind of wild with way more energy than Bill and I had. Now I'm truly thankful because she keeps me more active than I would be without her. She's a pain in the neck, a loving companion, a bark-aholic and a frisbee fanatic and a JOY!
Shouldn't I really have a calmer dog? Nah, this nutty dog insists that I forget my gripes and groans and get out and PLAY!
Back to the Pound, Ed...Someone is waiting for you!

I miss Rufuz, too, Ed. He was the perfect companion for you. I pray you find another one like him in your future ... you need a dog like him ... he was one of a kind!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Texas, Karen Lynn. :(

I miss my kitties, too, especially Cajun; she chose me.

I've been there too, Ed. Best thing you can do is to get another and give it all the love you gave to Rufuz. And in case you didn't know, Rufuz will be waiting for you at God's 'RAINBOW BRIDGE' when the time comes. Remember, all dogs go to Heaven.

You cannot replace him, exclusively him Ed, he was one of a kind, he was Rufuz! The best thing to do is to find another, that appeals, that you can love for it's own special personality, remembering always Ruffie and the love he gave u unconditionally. I know this, I lost my duchess, and My Layla when I came to NZ, I had to put Duchess to sleep as she was too old and sick to rehome, though Layla got a new and a good home, and lives a good life. I lost Sylvester, my half Siamese, and that hurt bad, but i have Cino now, and hes a treasure. So many to love over the years, so many lost so many memories to hold dear...I know where ur at dear friend. Find a pooch that needs you, that chooses YOU, somewhere out there is a k9 in need of you. :) Love always your friend Cherry

River of Memories: An Appalachian Boyhood by David Thompson
