It's always best to file the report and have it on record....it's a sorry justice system (here in Canada too) when the victim must actually be struck in order for the police to step in!!! No one should be permitted to threaten another!!!! No matter what!
At least you took care of it, especially for any future issues that could arise from it. Glad you are safe and well. Don't you get sooooo tired of people sometimes?
Good on you, Ed. This kinda thing has to be nipped in the bud, otherwise peeps can think they can try it on again when their bars have been rattled. It's like kids without boundaries... they will just keep on pushing until something gives... Stay safe and in control! xx
Here in Florida, we have a gun law they call "Stand your ground" and if I'm not mistaken, we are the only state with one anything like it. It's been receiving a lot of notice lately, but it's a law that allows you to defend yourself when you are threatened. Sounds like Jersey could use something similar. Dick
Always make the report. I had a similar situation a few years back with a violent drunkard who threatened to kill one of my dogs. He was never arrested, but some wonderful police officers started hanging around his home in their squad car. He didn't want to be caught drunk-driving, so he moved away.
So if he comes in the middle of the night and bashes your head in, wonder if the State Police will say, "He ought to have done that the first time and we'd took him in?" Idiots.
