But for memories, what have we got...

They were , at least, the better of times, The times we grew up in were, We flew to the moon & knew Kennedy, No one back then used as much as now a racial slur… We had pride in our nation, We had, on TV, heroes & knew a few comical villians, We were free from knowing the transgressions of our politicians, We thought only a white lie would one day bring on our damnation… We loved for we knew not any other, We only knew of our fathers & mothers, We knew a strict code,or else get punished, We didn’t know of kidnapping, rape & crime, Our families did of us hide, And did for us in love smother…

You were young (under the protection of your parents) and very na�ve (from what you've written here) and because of stinking old age have forgotten all the bad and are only thinking about good endorphins when you didn't have any responsibility for anything except obey your parents.

This is gospel truth! I miss those days. Nowadays a kid can't enjoy just being a kid with all they know. Shame. Yes, we were the lucky ones!
