Disconnected from civilization,
From others I feel a castration,
Hidden amongst the reeds,
Of the marsh I do cherish,
In a world that was of my own creation…
Floating beyond the horizon,
Only blue sky & sea surrounding me,
My boat so small amongst the rolling waves,
Does of all my senses enliven…
Great experience as long as one is not "lost at sea." I recall a few summer afternoons after I could no longer swim, when I balanced myself on a small inner tube and floated around the lake with the sun baking me and remaining half in the cool water, sometimes touching reeds and weeds as I paddled near the shore or out to the island. Not a care in the world, with only the water and sky.
As far as metaphorically speaking goes, "We all have to float our own boat!" ;-)
Nekid huh? That is a great way to spend time on a metaphoric sandbar.

It is always great to spend time alone, help to get things into perspective.
I have rowed a boat alone on lakes. There certainly is a "feeling" like nothing else when you're hidden in the reeds and on a sand bar. Oh, you are bringing back wonderful thoughts. Thank you!
I appear to have spent much of my life alone in a 'metaphoric' boat. It's not all bad. Okay, there are times when other people are required but, on the whole, it makes for a less complicated life.
I really like this.

I understand your discontent, Ed, and your desire what you used to have, but n'er have now, and perhaps never will have again. I have the same sort of desires, although not the sea and the marsh. No, my thoughts wander to what I have done in my life and would love to do them over again
