I never had to keep a hankie available when writing a story...

Poem Artwork

So very small he was when he came,
The vet said he wouldn’t last long as he was lame,
But the little boy wanted him oh so bad,
His parents allowed it because they loved their little lad…

The boy and his dog were always together,
They went everywhere and vowed love forever,
The dog stayed by his side even when he was sick,
The dog made the boy stronger & happier with every lick…

The boy did grow as boys often do,
In time he gave the dog less attention, making the dog blue,
The boy went on his way into adult life,
The dog became old & infirmed,
But when the dog was about to end life,
The boy, now a man, came home to their love reaffirm,
The dog died happy & forever from heaven watched over his boy.

I miss Woofie. I'm so sorry, Ed, but I couldn't even begin to take care of myself during those dark days.

My brother just lost his faithful companion for the last 15 years. It can be hard as I wrote about my loss in my story, Jazz's Death.

I've loved and lost many dogs over the years so I know how this story goes. The truth is that our pets represent the only true, pure earthly love for us. The ask nothing in return for their companionship but love.

To feel the love of a dog is to know there is an afterlife.

Sad Ed, but with a happy ending even though he died, he died happy.
