Good or bad memories I can't really say, but sometimes something gets dredged up & its better to vent it here...thank you for reading...

Poem Artwork

In my life they came and went,

I can’t remember who they were,

The devil was the one, who of them sent,

My memory of them & others is pretty much a blur…

Drugs and drinking I was still doing then,

Into and out of my life they all came and went,

They were part of my bad day’s way back when,

Today sometimes I use my writing to of those days vent…

Not seen any of them since the eighties,

Mostly they wanted money for drugs,

I hope they lived and didn’t go to hades,

I know as they got older they frequented the clubs,

Trying to get picked up by those that owned a Mercedes…

Just a part and parcel of my lurid past,

From my moment in the proverbial sun,

Everything has changed since my last,

I guess for me at the time it was a pretty good run.

We "think" we are invincible when we are young. But we are not. Love and peace.

The past is gone. What is left is who we are today. And you are a poet.

You are the sum total of your life's events. You have been molded by changes and adaptations. Hey, you're alright!

Love ya!

We are all invincible when we are young. Some expression more vigorously than others. I guess I was hustling in my own way as well by seeking higher education and success through good deeds and high productivity.

I sense a longing for getting together with some of those old acquaintances just to see how they are doing. Most of the ones that I knew from back then are quite boring if they are not dead.

I can relate. If it wasn't for working 2nd shift, I probably would have continued to run with the wrong crowd until who knows when. Working 2nd shift separated me from them, and I'm glad of it.

The past always seems to be creeping along behind us, for some strange reason especially during the holiday season. Hang in there. We've all been there and left it behind.
