Kippy

I have had many memories of late, most, sadly, of being an immature kid & feeling better by hurting others, so childish...wish I knew then, but...

“KIPPY”

As a kid I can recall,

Another one by the name of Kippy,

Not so sure of the date,

But was before I became a hippie.

What a “trippy”,

Here you thought I started out as a yippie,

But in reality, you were, just here, dippy…

Rufuz should be considered a “nippy”,

As he loves to nibble on my hand,

Never leaving a mark,

Cause he knows if he does,

He won’t get any cutty sark.

But away from the first name, have I gotten,

He was a good friend, but much younger than me,

I treated him sadly,

So stupidly that now I am mad at myself,

But I guess that alot have our “big bully” moments,

I know I did,

Even though I was not,

As far as I can recall at this spot.

For some reason, this particular kid stands out,

I remember things about him,

Kid things that I don’t about others,

I recall hurting him on a dock,

Just to impress some friends,

I embarrassed him as well,

Pointing out a hole in his bathing suit,

At his age, 12 at the time, this was especially not cute.

I recall his response,

Was that he knew I couldn’t change,

Little did he know then,

But that hurt me deeper,

Than I allowed anyone to know.

Why am I writing this poem about this incident, you ask?

Who knows for sure?

Possibly because I miss those times,

And wish to go back and change, so sublime,

Not sure what brings on this desire,

Maybe older age is setting under me a fire.

I certainly do apologize to any and all I victimized,

You didn’t deserve it,

I was just being immature,

But of that, you can see, I’m sure!
