Leeky Teeky"

The name is from my first boat as a teenager, what a wonderful memory, from a wonderful time in life...sort of...

“LEEKY TEEKY”

When we were kids,

The big thing then,

Was having a boat,

Not necessarily a yacht,

Just a little boat with some speed, or not.

My first boat, the “Leeky Teeky,”

Just a plywood craft, but the Queen Mary to me,

My dad and I plugged & fiber glassed her each winter,

But still she leaked; hence the name as you can see.

She had just a small 18 horsepower Evinrude,

Three fuel tanks, usually floating in incoming water,

But to me she was so much fun,

We would go into the ocean in this little “piece of junk.”

Never did we have problems with this boat,

She always did do a pretty good job to float,

Despite the water that could be seen,

Leaking through where we had already fixed, that of a seam,

But that is why I had to stop every so often and pump her clean.

What memories this boat contained,

That of a boy in his early teens,

Gliding over waves, and making others green,

So much fun was had that I wish I could return,

To that time, even though it was as usual for a teen,

Tumultuous, ridden with bad times, high school nerd,

But I still had my boat, to escape anything I heard…

Fitting name for your boat, but yes any boat no matter the size is always fun. I miss those days also. Great write of memories.
