I DON’T DESERVE THIS FRIEND…
His name is Lien,
I don’t deserve him,
I know that is a sin,
To say herein,
But it is the truth,
So help me…
He has been there for me whenever,
I needed whatever I needed,
He has paid for things he has had no business paying for,
He keeps telling me it is because our friendship,
He will do more and more,
No matter the chore…
A bill I had this night,
Overdue and almost shut off was my power,
I wracked my brain how to pay,
But all I had to do was ask Lien,
And he did what he has always done,
Advised me in his most pleasant way,
Gotta do this, and gotta do that, Ed,
But I will take care of this overdue bill,
But you gotta do your part too…
I need to find an extra job, part time,
Or maybe more hours where I work now,
And maybe, if nothing else works, I may,
Have to sell this camper, & rent an apartment,
As I said to him I am tired of being cold, so rent I must.
There is a thin chance that Rufuz must go,
Maybe to his aunt and uncle in Kentucky,
But I WILL find him a good place,
As he is my pal and closest buddy,
But this may not come to pass,
If I find a place to accept us both,
He hardly ever barks,
Most to protect me or to warn,
So maybe I will find someone with love for dogs,
Oh dear, I sorely hope so,
As to part with Rufuz,
Would be an extremely hard task,
And from what I am told,
May tear him up inside as well,
I have been warned that he could die,
Of loneliness without me,
And I would truly rather die than he,
Than to allow any of this to happen.
But I have some time,
Maybe the idea of a part time job,
May get me out of hock,
And allow me to be able to afford to keep,
Rufuz and I living together for all time…
Not a very good poem, I am afraid,
Just wanted to say how much Lien is loved in my book,
But got off the track,
So sorry for that lack of track… (ed)
