Pinky Ring

It is not the expense of the ring, but the meaning behind its existence...

“PINKY RING”

Off it comes, for washing or working,

Even sometimes when I am just jerking,

But it always goes back on, a symbol,

Of our relationship, always there, always lurking.

Its funny, I take it off and my finger still feels,

As if it is still on, as it has been for a long time,

I hope I never lose it, as that would be a crime,

Making me upset,

But could never forget,

The reason I put it on,

To show to the world our love, for all time.

Silver with a goldish band in the middle,

Bought with love, when we bought two,

Both found at an unusual spot,

The gift shop at Ponce Inlet lighthouse, in Florida.

But, who cares where it came from?

It means to us what we want,

It may not be too expensive, but, again, who cares,

It is the meaning to us, the wearer’s that matters here,

Not the trivial expectations of others supposedly, so near…

Wise write, Ed. Monetary cost should have no bearing on something precious to your heart.

But like Dan, I, too, wonder about the second line!

Ed;

Nice effort. I must admit however that second line has me puzzled.

a ring is a symbol of commitment and love but I do not usually wear it. Wonderful poem
