Meditation's...

To a degree, a memory, to another, my dog, to yet another, who knows, just meditation on the past...NOT a very happy poem, so don't operate any heavy machinery while reading this...

MEDITATION’S…

Meditation comes hard when I am down,

Even with the help of my favorite hound,

Always here, always there, always around,

Waiting with ears up and eyes bright,

For his dad to go for a walk; doing what’s right.

Cold as is always the case, outside the old shack,

Fast do I bring him from his walk, back,

He sits at my side, giving me love,

He knows so well, when his dad is lacking,

Feeling it with his senses, as mine are slacking.

Memories from a childhood of pain,

Memories brought up from so many happy poems,

So many memories of a childhood of light and happiness,

Mine just a jumble of mixed up darkness’s,

Unable to discern the good from the bad, so sad.

Meditation sometimes takes it away,

The good, the bad, the reasons for being so sad,

But sometimes, as with tonight, it is too hard,

To hard to relinquish the past shards of broken promises,

The many desires and dreams of a hurtful childhood,

Unfortunately, no way to change the past,

And the future?

Looking as bleak as the last…

Guess I am not the only one having trouble sleeping tonight. This is a very deep heart touching write. A great expression of your thoughts and feelings. You are a better writer then you give yourself credit for and from what I can read a pretty wonderful person too, I am sure your sweet dog would agree with me.

River of Memories: An Appalachian Boyhood by David Thompson

For a time, I perched myself on a flat rock, comparing my life with the Guyandotte River. Just as its tributaries replenish it daily, changing it in some small—sometimes great—degree, so have the day-to-day occurrences of life changed me. Like the ri

She never felt safe at home as a young girl, and didn't understand why when she finally escaped she wasn't safe in the big wide world either ...effectively jumping out of the frying pan into the fire!
