My Home as a Kid...

That great big house on the right, we lived on the top floor, with the screen room to the right and the steps leading down, what a wonderful existence, but they tore the old place down, putting up an ugly condo, won't last out this century...

Poem Artwork

my home as a kid…

such a life, to be born and raised at the beach,

to be able to stay out of dad & moms reach,

simply by going surfing or boating or swimming,

never did they know,

where it was that I did go,

kept them guessing I did, but as a kid, that was my job, so…

I have told so many of my home on the beach,

I thought it only fitting that eventually,

you all get to see it, in the picture above,

that beautiful old home, living on the third floor,

the home to the right in the picture,

we lived and never loved…

I remember watching the storms,

break waves over the boardwalk,

splashing and crashing down on our side yard,

believing we would someday float away was not hard,

but fear of the ocean was never a problem,

as I was a kid and we lived forever, then, didn’t we?

(:D If that's Sea Isle City, N.J., been there, done that! <grin> Storms at the shore both fascinated me and scared me to death! But I love the ocean and the beach, more so off-season! I loved laying in bed listening to the surf roar just a block or two away. Thanks for the memories, Ed!! Love the picture!

So true, a child thinks nothing can hurt them, even when they are being hurt. Wonderful house and great beach. Last Fall I got to see Maryland and they still have some buildings that look like that. I froze my toes, putting them into the ocean that time of the year but it was worth it! Wonderful sharing.
