It is important we fulfil the little wishes of an old parent or an ailing relative or else it keeps hurting us for the rest of the life. Dad made each of his children feel that he loves and needs them more. That was the beauty of his relationship with his loved ones.
If only you were with me for some time In my life just to be I will live for some more time said he If only you could sit down near me In this home just to be with me Ans spend some time here with me To talk and remember the good old times I will feel so good I shall forget to think My bones are weary,old and weak As i count the days of the week To keep pace with this moving world The meanings in this long life I find As it is time for me to part But then I still wish that I live a few more days Just to be with you! So said dad over and over Now I lament his death all the more Even after years have gone I wish to get another life And meet him again as dad In another world In another time He be my dad And I his first born lad. Together we take on the world J K Roseline

What a beautiful tribute to your dad with such deep sentiment. I loved every word and the title says it all, doesn't it?

While I've always honored the wisdom of my elders, I do not mourn their passing because that is the way it is. The lad in your poem does not seem to have cut the umbilical cord and reached the maturity required to be on his own.
