 An ode to a friend

Silently  move  by  the shore

In the descending    dusk

The moving tide   beside us go

Drawing new patterns in the sand

 Each time to and fro

Like in life  many moments  are hard

To be there when it gets bad

Like a rock you stand by so sturdy,

A friend who understands is  friend indeed

Like a tree your shade is a silent strength

Now celebrate  time  with each other dear

Seek joy from   simple things in life

A singing bird, the setting sun,

How the shine rolls up its light and is gone

Like a light man at the end of a show

Look at the night sky on a full moon night

The feel of breeze on the hair let loose

To catch the wind clasping us tight

Laugh and talk like little kids in school

We part ways,  go our own way

Till we meet some other day

When we hear each other  calling

Come let’s meet , its been a while

Then  together watch the world passing by

So beautifully written. It is the little things that are important, isn't it. I cried at this beautiful write.

Loved it. Over the years I've had so many friends and have truly been blessed that way. You're so right. We should celebrate our friendships with our dear friends.

...how wonderfully unconditional is the friendship
you've presented in your "An Ode to a Friend" poem.
We need meaningful connections with others...then...
no matter how far apart...you both live...there is always
the "hair let loose To catch the wind clasping us tight
Laugh and talk like little kids at school"....and keep
you both attached...going with you wherever you journey.
Your poem's words J.K. deeply touched my heart.
Thank you for sharing your masterpiece.

This is beautiful work, in your own elegant inimitable style..
..friends, yes, where would we be without them to share special moments, relive special memories just for the fun...and be ourselves with...no acting required....
Hugs,
Diana...

Agree with Edward!!!
The poem has a serene feeling where it is neither speaking of breaking up nor does it show any discord between the two friends which makes them part and it isn't even time that breaks them apart.
It is simply the circumstances that has made them grow like two trees next to each other entailed in each other but yet there came a time where on their journey, they incidentally had to go two seperate ways to fulfill some goals of life which weren't linked to each other.
