I think this is very effective, Danae. I can "feel" the emotional turmoil. What you have shared is something I can relate to and understand. Thank you. Love and best wishes,
I venture into the not knowing exactly whether you are concerned about your destination (family) of the concern is more about flying over the clouds in an oblong tin can. I myself quit flying quit quite a few years ago.
Whichever you concern, you have made your case in any case. Your many infamous anti-authoritarian relatives are quite cozy with the oblong tin box, both of which begs to stand along. I think you dread the entry into the "lion’s jaws" rather that the mode of transportation that delivers you there. I quite enjoyed reading of your concern, whichever it is.
There is obviously a stealth focus of your exploration here, i.e., "How did I talk myself into this?" Whatever that is, there is a universal reach of the wordsmithing, capable of tapping into readers' subconscious, making us ask ourselves some honest questions. Metaphorically, whether pursuing the "Bank Vault's Closing" or the collage of other tasty word choices, e.g., flying, galaxy, aluminum, peaks, veins, (bucking the grain - a fav) wine, etc., there is an enigmatic journey's end here that can be identified in multiple ways, depending on the reader's experience and appreciations. All in all, this is the kind of word puzzle challenge that lifts each individual stanza above the ordinary, and most importantly, above and removed from the mundane waste of paper so many poetic efforts settle for nowadays. Exciting language play.
