What is done in the name of caring.
The dead lie stalling Hoping it’s not for real Clinging to their flesh As it decomposes Humpty Dumpty And all the rest Bones where there were Hopeful bright eyes Succor for their needs Tenderness from guardians No comfort Atrocity after atrocity Nothing and everything To blame Vultures Ratings Exploitation Dollars Suffering is business Pretending to care With the makeup Lighting, phony concern “Our thoughts and prayers” One more time Parents are mined Children are probed To feed the almighty beast That enjoys this kind of thing Whores of the camera Thinly veiled veneers This is America This is the land of guns The land of freedom To shoot But never get shot at Or so they justify

There is such a void in the world of words that truly express reality, express sentiment and not sentimentality. And there certainly is a world out there wallowing in sentimentality, thanks to the media. Your words are shards of cutting consciousness, bellows of wanton ethereal desire, passion without apologies, truth needing to be voiced and heard. Such is the plight of many a poet. Timely and poignant on a level seldom voiced.
