I often wondered what
It would be like on the Mississippi;
Floating down that river
With not a care in the world.
Hearing the steam boats whistle,
Waving to all the folks aboard.
Remembered stories of some gamblers
That often travelled on these boats.
They carried a hidden pistol,
Just in case someone didn't like
How they shuffled the deck.
They never lost a challenge.
It's getting kind of late now,
So I'll put my dreams away.
But one day I'll sail the Mississippi,
And be the captain of my boat.
