Just having fun with words

 BEDTIME

I’m headed for dreamland.

I’m going beddy bye.

It’s time to hit the sack,

And get some shut eye.

40 winks is too short.

A siesta won’t do.

I need more than a cat nap,

To see me through.

Before I drift off,

I try counting sheep.

I’ll be out like a light,

I need my beauty sleep.

I’m going to catch some ZZZ’s,

And hibernate.

I’ll be in the arms of Morpheus,

In a REM state.

I’ll sleep like a baby.

I’ll sleep like a dog.

I’ll sleep like a rock.

I’ll sleep like a log.

The Sandman’s here,

In the fading light.

Wish me sweet dreams,

It’s time to say goodnight.

You have captured all the clichés and words we have used to describe sleep in a simple poem. That's quite a trick.

Now, can you tell me why, that when someone says, he/she slept with she/he, they don't really mean that there was any sleep going on, do they?

I guess you're right,
"40 winks is too short
A siesta won't do"
So go and have your beauty sleep;
I wish you sweet dreams!
Well done Michael.

You Look FatCalgary by RickthePoetWarrior

Using Calgary as a backdrop the author satirizes the self-serving nature of the public as it continues to fatten itself, not only physically, but egotistically as well.
